Review of Taking Woodstock (2009) by Darlene M — 26 Dec 2009
You would expect this film to spend much time on the artists performing at Woodstock, but no. It ends up personal and way too involved in one small town guy's life. Like we care. I mean come on, we're talking about WOODSTOCK here! And it was SO long. Did they ever even here of a thing called EDITING? My gawwd, there are so many things I would have cut out of this film, starting with a transvestite Liev Schreiber. Quite frankly, we did not need that. And no, I am not a homophobe. I simply find the image of a man wearing a tight pink dress disturbing. And no, I am not interested in seeing Hedwig and the Angry Inch. But let's not stray!
However, this film was sort of entertaining and I suppose a cameo by Paul Dano is worth a lot in my books, so I wouldn't suggest anyone to avoid it. Rather, see for yourself. Just don't expect this to be the best representation of Woodstock (BECAUSE IT SO ISN'T!!!!! HA!!!!!).
