Review of Taking Woodstock (2009) by Juha P — 11 Jan 2010
If you werent there, this movie isnt going to help reenact what you missed. But, if you want to watch someone who might have been there, and some of the sense of a 1960's small town in the Catskills, and all that coming of age gay stuff, this is nice. There is no great crisis while our hero exploits and is exploited by this iconic generational history, and while a little town is overwhelmed by a whole generation of naked, dope smoking long hairs.
The acting is generally decent. Although we hear only drips and draps of the sounds of the festival, we have all heard and seen the documentary anyway, or listened to the music endlessly.
Sweet story, done very competently.
