Review of Taking Woodstock (2009) by David V — 08 Feb 2010
Impressive re-creation of the actual historic event, the skill in creating the festival in this movie is shown off tremendously... and that's it. Meandering and heavy-handed at the same time, this movie offers nothing to the viewer who goes into it looking for some kind of cinematic perspective on those 3 days of Peace, Love, and Music.
Considering the supposed subject matter, one would think we'd at the very LEAST have the pleasure in hearing some of the classic songs from classic acts, but NOoo. Ang Lee felt his wasted time of a story was more important than an actual, whimsical, even partially entertaining take on Woodstock.
