Review of Taking Woodstock (2009) by Kevin Val B — 21 Feb 2010
You may fault Taking Woodstock for running a half-hour too long, but you cannot help but be charmed by its affectionate and mildly humorous treatment of its subject. It portrays the humble beginnings of the generation-defining concert, deliberately shying from the big event itself but instead focusing on the little events that surrounded it.
It's a great depiction of the little stories behind the big one, bolstered by a quirky and eclectic cast of characters. It's also an engaging family drama, centered on a kid who finally discovers what to do with himself after three days of music and peace.
