Review of Taking Woodstock (2009) by Patrick B — 14 May 2010
A good story that suffers a little under Ang Lee's direction. While it's about both the trials of putting on the famous festival and a young mans horizons being expanded, it doesn't seem to delve deeply enough into either.
Demitri Martin does a wonderful job, but it's the supporting cast that saves the picture. There isn't a performance that doesn't make you want to learn more about their character. It almost makes me wish this had been a TV mini-series, more about the town and people then about the festival.
