Review of Taking Woodstock (2009) by Olaf Z — 17 Nov 2010
This film depicts more truth about how things were at that time than most people care to admit. I laughed and cried. I'm compelled to mention Imelda Staunton and her mind blowing performance in this film as Sonia Teichberg. There is so much pain and anguish rolled up in that character that I cried for joy when she found her release. From Sense and Sensibility's Charlotte Jennings Palmer to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix's Dolores Umbridge, Imelda continues to amaze me with her in depth knowledge of character building and approach to breathing life into each woman she plays. She's also a very smart (or extremely lucky) actress for signing on with the casts she finds herself working with. I felt a kinship with Liev Schreiber's take on Vilma having known someone alot like her in my past.
If closure is necessary for you or you want to see a concert, pick another film. If you'd like to be a part of THE NOW and learn a little bit about THE LOVE that was shared back then, rent this story.
