Review of Taking Woodstock (2009) by Brandon F — 23 Dec 2010
Ang Lee serves a perfect cinematic experience with âWoodstock,â? a comedy about the building of the most legendary rock festival in history. The film is spectacularly warm and full of colorful humanity, it's open minded, clever and smart, reaching delicate notes of tenderness among all the fun and grooviness.
Here's one of those wonderful comedies that are funny but are also completely filled with meaningful substance in the form of insight into the characters and human behavior. There is also a lot of thinly veiled political commentary here, which is a given when Ang Lee is the director. And simply the FEEL of everything; the impressions conveyed are so very strong and just completely full of hope and wisdom. To sum this all up I state that I absolutely love this film.
