Review of Taking Woodstock (2009) by Mark W — 26 Mar 2011
An absolutely joyful little movie, a true hidden gem. A character driven comedy that is set against the backdrop of Woodstock. Some of the main characters here are based on some of the main players who set up and organized the concert.
The actual concert is not really the focus. It's how it came to be in this little town of Bethel, New York, the setting up and preparing for it. We then see the craziness as the mass of people start to descend during the concert.
We get a sort of insider's view of what it might have been like to be in this town during this time and it makes for a very enjoyable and entertaining movie.
