Review of Taking Lives (2004) by Dann M — 27 Aug 2012
Taking Lives is a formulaic psychological thriller with an interesting story, but it has trouble maintaining the suspense. When the victim of a serial killer is discovered in Montreal, an FBI specialist is brought in to help solve the crime.
The film is well cast, and includes Angelina Jolie, Ethan Hawke, and Kiefer Sutherland. However, the performances are bland and underwhelming. Still the mystery is intriguing, even if it's not executed particularly well.
While Taking Lives isn't especially intense or suspenseful, it's a strong procedural that takes some interesting turns and provides a fairly solid thriller.
