Review of Taking Lives (2004) by Matthew K — 13 Feb 2008
The title is the only real twist going into this movie. First thought you might figure "why not just call it murder" but then with the beginning "identity theft" scene, you get it.
Then you see the killer, and know he's the killer up until the end, where they reveal he's the killer.
And although I don't think a movie needs a twist or anything like that to be good, it suffered because it was trying o so hard to surprise you.
Jolie was average, which is normal, Sutherland probably would have been great if he was in it for more than 10 minutes, and Hawke was good, he was there, but he didn't really leave an impression.
It was good and kept me entertained, but it isn't the best film out there.
