Review of Taking Chance (2009) by Connie B — 29 Mar 2011
Perhaps the most quiet and subtly powerful film about the USMC that I've ever seen. It's as powerful and meaningful as the Hallmark films try to be, but where they come up short, this one succeeds.
Serious props to HBO for making such a beautiful and unabashedly patriotic film while still keeping it appropriate for families, as well as firmly planted in realistic territory without resorting to melodrama.
