Review of Takers (2010) by Tom M — 16 Apr 2011
Despite its lofty aspirations, Takers never gets it crew of B-team players past the realm of fan-fiction and cheap knock off. It desperately wants to be a legit, respectable crime flick that's part Heat, part Oceans Eleven, but can't shrug off its made-for-tv pedigree, a script that sorely wants for creative revision, and a lineup of R&B/hiphop stars that have no business in a movie that's trying to take itself seriously.
Does have a couple cool set pieces and the occasional bout of rousing action that may give it some worth for a more forgiving audience, of which I'm unfortunately not a part.
