Review of Takers (2010) by Matthew K — 01 Jul 2011
I am glad that Ghost is dead. TI annoyed me so much especially in the heist scene when the truck didn't make it's mark. He tried way too hard. Everybody was fine. This was a movie that you didn't care if you accidentally tossed the DVD.
It's sad because I like Hayden and Michael Ealy. The movie got better towards the end with the action scenes. Chris Brown's pursuit scene was good. Everybody died "heroically" except for John and Gordon, so far.
The ending was left open which I liked. Naomi was such a toss in. She was kind of pointless and Saldana was random. They could've used any girl for that. Matt Dillon annoys me a lot of the times. I don't like his look but he's ok in movies.
It was disappointing to not get more out of the cast like their characters and such. I didn't even know that Michael and Chris's characters were brothers until the end. And AJ seemed like a cool cat, wish we got more from him.
And John, he was a blip. Too much focus on Gordon especially with the Namoi point. They should've expanded more so we could love all of them except Ghost, who I hated from the beginning. I wanted to know each of their skills more.
The robbery was better in the beginning. The heist was sad and the whole set up wasn't fantastic. It seems to be a trend with robbers to blow holes to get a truck. Overall, an ok film that got better towards the end.
