Review of Takers (2010) by Eric R — 10 Jul 2011
Its like a bunch of bad actors and rappers got together to make a movie where they can play a bunch of badass gangsters with Matt Dillion and poor Idris Elba there to at least give the film some credibility.
Chris Brown is absolutely terrible, T.I. is bad, we know the acting ability of Paul Walker and Hayden Christensen already, so yea, from an acting standpoint its pretty bad. The film is decently entertaining but it really has too many goofy dramatic subplots like Elba's crackhead sister and Matt Dillion's poor parenting.
So, the film revolves around a group of professional thieves who get offered the heist of a lifetime by Ghost (T.I.) a former partner who just got paroled. There is nothing insanely bad about the story, its just the film takes itself too seriously during the emotional beats, when it clearly doesn't have the talent necessary.
