"Takers" 10 Scale Rating: 6.0 (Decent) ...
If you go in with high expectations, you will be disappointed. If you go in expecting nothing, you'll enjoy this mindless little heist movie.
A group of bank robbers plan one complex heist a year. Shortly after pulling off their latest job, an ex-member of their group (T.I.) is released from jail early with a armored car job that they just can't resist. Standing in their way is a dedicated cop with nothing to lose.
Paul Walker and Hayden Christensen are two of the most cardboard actors I have ever seen. Christensen wasn't so bad in this one, but Walker was just as bad as he usually is. Aside from an awesome chase scene, Chris Brown was clearly out of is element. That aside, the rest of the cast was solid. Idris Elba, Matt Dillon, and Michael Ealy were borderline amazing.
Despite being the "bad guys", you do find yourself rooting for the bank robbers ... if only because you like seeing their luxurious life style. the movie is slick and well done, but the heist itself didn't appear all that well thought out for such a great group of criminals. On top of that, the sub-plots are useless and were pretty much filler so that the movie filled it's 1:47 run time.
All in all, a solid little crime flick.
