Review of Taken 3 (2014) by Daniel L — 02 Apr 2018
Taken 3 is nowhere near as good as Taken 1 & 2. Although I do't think they were particularly good either, maybe 2 or 3 stars, at least they are watchable & provide some entertainment. I'm also not sure if I'm remembering correctly, but I remember being impressed by Liam Neelson in Taken 1, his fighting technique & him being believable as a tough guy.
This movie I watched recently & he is highly unbelievable in fights. They make so many quick changes in camera shot just to try and take away from the fact that he is very slow. He looks like a very old man doddering about, the entire movie.
Most of the shots are extreme close ups & obvious stunt men & him just crouching down slowly after the fight looking like he can barely stand up afterwards. The police & Forest Whitaker are a pointless addition to the movie.
They don't work out anything, they are dumb bystanders just following everything that Liam does. It seems to be trying to be like THE FUGITIVE but failing miserably. The point in the Taken franchise is he is a guy with "A specific set of skills" but this movie he fails to protect his wife from death, which is kinda the point of the first two movies that he can save his family no matter what he has to face.
I was bored the entire time. Not worth watching. Stick to the first two movies. Liam is now too old to do action movies.
