Review of Taken (2004) by Mark V — 23 Apr 2014
The plot was exceptional and made for a very interesting story. Some ex-soldier fighting slave traders to rescue his daughter. It sounds very noble but one thing that nags me was the daughter. She had to be autistic in order to play her role. No one is that good at being so useless nor so stupid in character unless you are Jim Carrey and he was actually funny. This stupid chick does nothing but run around screaming and crying, ALL THE TIME.
Allow me to give an example: Her dad was waiting in a restaurant and when she comes in and sees her dad, she immediately sprints towards him, like trying to win the special olympics. She asks him to pay for her expensive trip to Europe with a friend. The dad was reasonably hesitant about this last minute request and politely tells her that he can't. Guess what happens next? Yeah she cries. Alot. Then she sprints out of the stupid restaurant for the gold. I do not like spoiled children. Especially the idiot slutty ones.
But, I do enjoy watching Liam Neeson becoming pissed off as he wears everyone's colon around his ankle. That deserves a star of its own.
