With the new trailer of "Taken 3" out today I thought I'd re-review "Taken 2". As a big fan of the first film I was excited to see a sequel. Unfortunately what we got was a boring, lifeless, pointless sequel. Neeson as usual kicks butt, thats why we see his movies. He is the go to guy if you want to make a movie about an aged bad a**. However, my love for Liam Neeson as an actor cannot save this film.
As the title suggests, someone is TAKEN. This time its all three of them. Brian Mills and his wife are TAKEN hostage by the men who were the fathers of the men from the guys Mills killed in the first TAKEN movie. Yes that is seriously the plot. It gets better, his daughter gets away and must save them both. So instead of seeing the guy we came to see kick butt in the film kick butt, we got his daughter running around on the tops of buildings throwing grenades.
Liam Neeson is a fantastic actor and I love seeing him in any movie, but not even him or the briefly entertaining action scenes can save this terribly dry film. Poorly written, dry, dry plot, and just plain pointless, "Taken 2" has taken my good money and wasted it. Hopefully the third installment will be an improvement. I have to say it looks much better, for now.
