Review of Take This Waltz (2011) by Hugo S — 23 Jul 2012
(4) Take This Waltz - dir. Sarah Polley.
It's nice to see that Sarah Polley hasn't forgotten her roots. There are so many details to remind the audience that this film is Canadian and is actually set in Canada (and not just filmed there). Other than that, I got to say I loved this film, save one scene too many with Sarah Silverman near the end, it's a very good movie with and interesting subject, which Polley explore quite deeply. The writing is sharp and the dialogue is great. Michelle Williams does amazing work, once again, but so does Rogen, who should keep on taking supporting roles in good movies, rather than lead ones in shitty flicks. Kudos to Luke Kirby as well. I'd say, despite being different, it'd make a good companion piece to Blue Valentine.
