Review of Take the Lead (2006) by Jerome C — 10 Jul 2008
Two things annoyed me about this film. The first, slow motion in dance sequences. What were they thinking? Certainly they had their audience in mind when they made that choice. But it seems to me a rather big mistake.
Banderas' tango did not need slow motion to make it look impressive - all it did was make me doubt how good it really was considering they needed to spruce it up. Perhaps they should have just let the dance speak for itself.
And second, way too many subplots - it made for a nice ending, but getting there was very choppy. Nothing brilliant, certainly not original - but all the same quite nice.
