Review of Take Shelter (2011) by Tim K — 04 May 2012

Take Shelter is a great movie and a well done performance by Michael Shannon as the lead role. But I did not like one of the supporting roles in this movie and it was, "Samantha" who was played by Jessica Chastain, she's a great actress don't get me wrong, but her character was annoying.

The best thing she offered was her chemistry with Michael Shannon was good. I don't think it's a big deal but it's something to say. Sometimes this film got repetitive which is the biggest issue with it was it became a little slow moving from time to time.

Also it's a little to long and it dragged sometimes. And it's for sure definitely not rewatchable. But the visuals in this film are beautiful and the direction was great! In my opinion the best things about this film are, the special effects, the visuals, Michael Shannon was amazing and his character was awesome, the story was really interesting, I was interested in the plot, and it's really suspenseful.

But it dragged a little and it was a little to long. The parts that I mostly enjoyed were the main character's dreams because they were suspenseful and really enjoyable. Also I liked ending a lot.

I enjoyed it and it was a great movie.
