Review of Take Shelter (2011) by Patrick M — 14 Jun 2012
Michael Shannon was snubbed for an oscar nomination, lets just get that out of the way right now. If you've heard anything about this movie, it's probably that his performance is incredible; I can't disagree.
Shannon is phenomenal and incredibly subtle, as is everyone else. It's a painfully slow movie, but purposefully so. It's about the quick, hard-hitting descent of a man into insanity and you can feel that through the pacing of the story.
It's an extremely interesting look at mental illness with one hell of an ending.
