Review of Take Shelter (2011) by Darryl S — 26 Aug 2012
Utterly fascinating. Although leisurely paced, I was not bored or restless for a second. One could either see this as a great character study of imminent mental illness, or a devastating horror film. Naturally, the ending proposes the latter -- but maybe not.
For myself, I saw it as a portentous denouement. Prior to the ending, though, I was wholly immersed in the reality of impending schizophrenia. Truly thought-provoking stuff.... Highly recommended.
