Review of Take Shelter (2011) by Andrew V — 25 Sep 2012
This is another one of these films that I'm surprised is so widely liked and I don't mind going against the masses. It's slow, drawn out, uneventful and for the most part completely uninteresting to me.
I have to mark this ones with the likes of The Road. The main character is the only reason it's at all worth watching, Michael Shannon does a great job but the problem is there's little to do great with.
I'd much rather watch/suggest films like The Shining, Stir of Echoes, The Machinist, Frailty, etc. over this slow monotonous film. I understand there's an art to making you feel the way this film and Contagion, The Road, etc.
make you feel but they're just not for me personally.
