First 40 minutes is watching Curtis go to his boring job, getting a beer, and staring at things. It fails to ake any profound statement on mental illness in rural America which seems the only possible plot ths movie could attempting.
Many reviews say the movie is slow and 'deliberate'. Excusing slowness because it was on purpose does not make it any easier to watch.
