Review of Take Shelter (2011) by Stephen E — 20 Apr 2013
Michael Shannon is quickly becoming one of the most well-respected actors of his generation, and for good reason, too. His understated performance as a protective father in "Take Shelter" fits perfectly with the overall mood that the film conveys, which is one of uncertainty and dread.
Jeff Nichols' purposely subtle approach makes the buildup to the final scenes even more thrilling than they ought to be. This is riveting stuff.
