Review of Take Shelter (2011) by Joe R — 27 Jul 2012
A beautiful (and frightening) film about the devastating effects of schizophrenia. It is handled with grace and compassion and amazing performances by Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain. The reason it is getting, however, a much lower mark from me than it deserves is that for some odd reason, writer/director Jeff Nichols in the very last three minutes of the film, wants to take a page from the Shyamalan school of schlock and completely undermines the entire basis of the film.
What a horrific move!
