Review of Take Me Home Tonight (2011) by Liz C — 20 Aug 2011

This movie has enough charm to make a somewhat acceptable movie. Unfortunately that's not enough to overcome, what feels like a complete, lack of laughs. This movie SHOULD have been funnier than it ended up being, but it just ends up relying on its retro style and 'awesome' 80s tunes to really establish itself as an entertaining comedy.

It has its moments and the cast did genuinely appear to have fun, but there's something missing. I think they spent a lot of time to get the look and feel of the 80s down and they forgot to write a script, so they just made it up as they went along.

I wouldn't recommend watching the movie, but it's not a terrible experience. If you want a movie that's big on style and little substance, then this is the movie for you.
