Review of Take Me Home Tonight (2011) by Rusty A — 26 Sep 2011
I really enjoyed this movie even if it wasn't the blast I had hoped for. Much of this movie reminded me of my own childhood in the 80s (the hair, clothes, music, dancing, sayings, etc.) and it seems the movie does more of a realistic story-telling focus than on being a pure comedy.
There were plenty of laughs, though, and I said "oh my God, I remember that!" or "I remember doing that" a lot. I'm so used to seeing Anna Faris in goofy comedies (Scary Movie, et al) that I was waiting for her to just bust out of character but she never did and played her part well.
Topher just seems to be made for these retro shows/movies so he fit right in. Only one part of the movie made me cringe and that was when Eric... I mean Topher was "riding the ball". If you've seen it you know what I mean but if not I don't want to ruin it.
I'm glad I didn't listen to the critics on this because I know I'll watch it again.
