Review of Take Me Home Tonight (2011) by Mike B — 17 Oct 2011
It was pretty good, not a John Hughes movies good, but still a worthy effort, the retro setting (music, fashion, cars, etc.) made it stand out from the typical 'by the numbers' plot of most rom-coms, and the BOY/GIRL leads weren't the only characters with a narrative journey to make. Topher and Teresa are good in the lead roles, but is well supported by the always over-the-top funnyman Dan Fogler (loved him in 'Balls Of Fury' which coincidentally also has 80's music in the form of DEF LEPPARD LOL!!!) and the equally funny, as well as stunningly beautiful Anna Faris, I liked how they also had interesting parts to play in the story, instead of watching the leads moon over one another romantically all the time.
PS: Good to see Michael Biehn in the role of Topher's character's father, the man is underrated, I loved him as hicks in ALIENS, he stood out from the marines by showing some character depth, with the exception of Bill Paxton's Hudson character of course, LOVED THAT CHARACTER, "IT'S GAME OVER MAN!!!".
