Review of Take Me Home Tonight (2011) by Chris S — 18 Dec 2011
To Conner Rainwater, if you're reading this review, I'm gonna tell you, this movie rocks! I almost agree with everything that you've said about this film, but still I'm gonna argue some little bit more things here. Anyways, âTake me Home Tonightâ?, is a fun and a crazy nostalgic trip to the 1980's. Even though I was born in 1991, still I can feel the 80's is the decade of roundtrip entertainment and fashions, because it doesn't compare to the 70's, 90's, or to the present. Here, in this film, you know that the film is truly set in the 80's, from the ins and outs, the entertainment, the fashion, and even looks of these people. But the problem is, to me, it doesn't feel the 80's at all seriously, it feels like a 2011 at all. Look at these actors, of course, few of them were born on the 80's but I don't know who? And also, looking at these actors like Topher Grace, makes you think do they really look like a person in the 80's or maybe just looked a little older at least. And remember, they're on the way to college but, they're more of a college graduate indeed. The rest of the actors in here were way beyond timeless and lost in time. But what I liked about in this picture is it is like that 2009 movie called âHot Tub time Machineâ?. That movie is also one of my favorite comedy films of that year, and that movie also shows about the 80's time but somehow this movie was like a trip using a time machine and yet to discover that we're all trap in some cliches and some inane dialogues here. âHot Tub Timeâ?, is about these men who accidentally went to their earlier days in the 80's, and as the laughter goes on and on, that movie shows and tells some very important lessons in life. And surprisingly, this movie, is not accidentally set in 80's or actually an 80's movie at all, it's like the crews of the film did try hard to make it look classic but still looked overlooked. Also, the soundtrack, was tremendous, some of the songs, I know them, and some just never heard of them. The very very long long and pointless party scenes here is just a waste of time, I want more, I really want more, it lacks a lot of fun and the ability to know more about these characters more. And above all, I did had a good time watching this. And I'm sure people who are teenagers in the 80's are not gonna like this one much, because of what, the lackness of showing more of what 80's really is and not dealing about this damn one night. And of course, to those people who were born 90's to the present like me, you're never gonna realize what the 80's really is, instead, just go with the film's lesson here for sure, never be a jerk to some person you want to make out with, and also never think your life is a waste if you don't have a plan in the future.
My former teacher said once: âKids fail to plan, but plan to failâ?, you can see why, and this movie proves it. I like it, I wish I had some more fun with these characters, and maybe I could see a sequel, wherein, these characters are now all living in these days.
