I'm sorry, but this was a fun and genuinely good comedy! Yes it helps that it was my generation depicted here, but the humor and heart are timeless. Except for one unnecessary (and truly out of place) scene with another man's girlfriend and voyorism, Take Me Home Tonight steered away from any vulgarity gags, body humor, or cursing for laughs (exp: Badass) - and that's so refreshing. This movie relies on talented actors and cohesive comedy with a purpose. A good, albeit simple, story did not try to be anything more than what it was.

So what was it ? It has all around good. Good scripts don't have to be saved by unbelievable crazy characters and over the top plot twists, thay stand on their own. They are not summer blockbuster, they are stories. Here with our characters the comedy comes naturally. It was a darn fine film that makes you laugh, does'nt take itself to seriously, and yet has the heart that pulls you in from the start. It has the other ingredient it needs to pull this off in good actors. As a movie go'er its a gift that all 4 main characters had great chemistry together. You see it as friends, family, and crushes they all are believable. Evan the supporting cast stayed within themselves and never went to far from what you might expect in reality. A story you can laugh with and believe in. Well plausibly anyway. If I didn't know any better, I would have bet the farm that this was a John Hughes film from while at the top of his game - right up there with his best. No joke.

So whether you know what I just referenced or your to young to know, either way it means you want to see this movie. Seriously, go. Go rent it now with some friends, not one of you will regret it!
