Besides Tom Hanks (Band of Brothers, The Pacific), Kang also follows the Spielberg legacy in invigorating war filmmaking. Considering such fact, it seemed very unlikely that this South Korean "melo" movie could surpass Spielberg's original box office monster. Powerful and moving, Taegukgi Hwinalrimyeo is a tear-inducing, unforgettable and heartbreaking reccount of those old heroes that would give anything for the family union. Don't be such a bastard and give it a try.
