Review of Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War (2004) by Lee ? — 10 Apr 2011
There is much to recommend this film, with some harrowing depictions of combat, no doubt compared with the opening of Saving Private Ryan as has just about every war film made since Ryans release. There is personally more depth to this film than Spielbergs the two main protagonists are both given believable character arcs and the performances are gripping.
The only drawbacks are that the film is probably a little overlong and could easily have withstood loosing about 20 minutes from the running time and yes one or two of the supporting characters are a little cliched but than isn't that the case with most war films?
