Review of Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War (2004) by John D — 15 Mar 2012
Harrowing, compelling, taut and yes melodramatic, Tae Guk Gi is an amazing film. Filled with perpetual battle scenes one would think its characters would be underdeveloped, however, that is not the case.
Instead, it builds its characters through action during the battle set-pieces, as well as wonderfully utilizing the small gaps of time in between to fully develop its protagonists. Heartfelt and filled with themes of honour and loyalty, The Brotherhood of War is a cinematic masterpiece.
