Review of Syriana (2005) by Campbell T — 25 Jul 2010
Here's a political-based thriller sensitive to the touch, throwing obstacle after obstacle at the lives of three intertwining characters. The "who really controls oil?" story is more of the same, but it's the acting, especially from Clooney, that hits you.
"Syriana" sweeps high notes like dwindling piano keys to an explosive climax where Stephen Gaghan's note-perfect dialouge is relied upon to fully close shop. It might not be particularly memorable, but "Syriana" proves souped-up guilt conquers clueless every time.
