Review of Syriana (2005) by Antar S — 01 Jan 2009
Rarely a political thriller could be so realistic and cynic, while describing geo-political conspiracies and the dirt surrounding the oil-related business and political decisions in the world.
The movie is ambitious, complex and demands the full attention of the auience. The whole cast is perfectly chosen for the different roles and nobody dominates, so that the story stays in the center of the movie.
The complex plot and the too difficult-to-follow-story makes Syriana hard to watch at some moments and this could be a reason for disappointment in the end, when after all efforts, the movie does not offer the typical Hollywood "the end" and leaves more questions opened, than answered.
