Review of Syriana (2005) by Masorad ( — 13 Dec 2009
Often inspired but overly intellectual attempt to elucidate what connects the killing in the middle east, and blowback-wise, in the west. Israel should have at least merited a walk-on, the madrasa-indoctrinated boys are a bit too Bobbsey Twins, Damon's son's demise is lazy contrivance, and Plummer's talents are wasted.
Still, rewatching it now four years later, few other Hollywood films have come as close to giving us a narrative which at least attempts to explain how we got to where we are.
