Review of Syriana (2005) by Ian L — 05 Apr 2010
A film that is complex and hard to follow at times, particularly the lawyer Bennett Holiday character's role. Loses it's impact because of this, you are left distracted from the story by 'who knows who / who wants what' rather than being given a steady and legible reveal of the connections.
Two other plot weaknesses:
1. There was no clarity in exactly how the older Prince's car was destroyed, that would surely have raised some rather awkward questions for the US after the event.
2. The suicide attack seemed rather random, I was left wondering how the target was chosen and what affect was expected.
