Review of Syriana (2005) by Bernhard B — 15 Apr 2010
Complex, diverse, and not straigthforward. Sounds like life itself, but Soderbergh requests a lot of his viewers in order to keep track of the stories in this film. However, very interesting to have so many links with everything that has happened in the Middle East after WWII (the coup in Iran to end democracy organized by the Americans and British in '53, Hezbollah and the attack on the American army base in Beirut in '83, the growing influence of the Chinese.
..).
