Review of Synecdoche, New York (2008) by Dave C — 02 Jan 2010
Kaufman's directorial debut is a mindfuck; indulgent, pretentious but also frequently amazing and moving. Time and space are distorted as a depressed theater director (played by Philip Seymour Hoffman) tries to direct a play that grows and swallows his existence.
Though some may classify it as a failed experiment, it is definitely a bold work.
