Review of Synecdoche, New York (2008) by Eleanor O — 18 Feb 2010
Clearly some people liked it but just as a warning if your going by reviews, its not for everybody, defitinely not for me. I watched it because I'm a Philip Seymour Hoffman and samantha Morton fan.
While the movie does create an (claustrophobic) atmosphere, its extremely long, and isn't engaging. It was described on the cover as 'ambitious' and I'd agree in the same sense its ambitious to try and jump over a tall building.
The only memorable part is a monologue by an actor about how your decisions destroy you. So the only other emotion I got besides boredom and frustration was a mild depression.
