Review of Synecdoche, New York (2008) by Photis G — 16 Jun 2010
No offense, but I can't see the originality in this movie. Should you be even a little sensitive around art, you should have seen that movie's concept a load of times at least in painting and by all means in literature. It's also been realized sometimes in the movies, but of course with a much different approach, so if you're a member of the "click-download-watch-trash" generation, "Synecdoche, New York" is most probably something new for you.
But that's ok, because that film is beyond doubts one of the finest of its kind and a fine example of what a pile of funds combined with a talented director and a great cast can do. Counting even the sense of boredom and frustration, which becomes evident around 1,5h, it still manages to put you up in a certain mood right from the start and minute by minute building up that mood up until the end, when the final redemption seems to you like your own redemption.
