Review of Synecdoche, New York (2008) by Stefano L — 06 Jul 2010
Just watched this film. My brain hurts from trying to make sense of it. In the end I decided that the only logical explanation for the film's story (if you could even call it that) is that it's not actually supposed to make sense at all.
The recursive acting portion was an interesting concept but overall I found the movie to be rather ostentatious and it's constant disregard for narrative clarity was extremely unnerving. This is truly a pretentious film for pretentious people, if I've ever seen one.
