Review of Synecdoche, New York (2008) by Sara B — 02 Oct 2010
A mixed up jumble of thoughts and memories. Confusing, very strange and oddly disturbing; what else should one expect from Charlie Kaufman? The movie showed similarities to "Mr. Holland's Opus" (the creative beginning of something grand and bigger than himself) and "The Trueman Show" (trapped inside a world he created/created for him).
Once I rewatched the trailer and realized the connection of the creative team I could clearly see the oddities screaming out from "Being John Malkovich" and "Adaptation" and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
" Although ultimately disturbing, the cast of actors was superb and the movie itself (sets/effects) was very creative!
