Review of Synecdoche, New York (2008) by Tom H — 02 Feb 2011
Great performances and at time great emotion, but it struggles with it's bizarre nature to the point where it is rendered incoherent. A fiction about a writer acknowledging his own monomaniacal nature is still a story about someone obsessed with themselves, and as a result it's not that interesting.
It's such a titanic effort that it has to be admired, but ultimately it struggles and fails.
