Review of Synecdoche, New York (2008) by Crystal S — 22 Jun 2012
If art should "comfort the disturbed [and] disturb the comfortable," this film committed to the latter often at the expense of the former. Brilliant, beautiful, afflicting, but at times so self-absorbed I lost sight of the oasis of empathy in "everybody's everybody.
" For those of us who are chronically serious, probably best viewed during daytime.
