Review of Synecdoche, New York (2008) by Alex G — 13 Aug 2012
A great film that deals with storytelling, symbolism, and life lessons through abstraction. Unlike most abstract films, this one does so with purpose and finesse--intention and incredible intricacy layer each unique choice made by the director--some of these choices /symbols work better than others.
While the film bears many flaws, it comes out as a ground-breakingly original film that takes the narrative structure in an entirely new and wonderfully interesting direction.
