Review of Synecdoche, New York (2008) by Elyse E — 05 Dec 2013
A difficult, but, I think an ultimately worthwhile endeavor. What it is on the surface and what it is thematically are very different, and they coexist and function disparately at the same time: that is, I liked the idea of it and I liked the acting and production, but i'm not sure I liked them both at the same time, or on the same plane of existence.
There is no rational way to describe this film and it's very uncomfortable, but I am of the opinion that film shouldn't be comfortable at all.
