You know where you stand with a Charlie Kaufman film at this stage of the game. Synecdoche is a deep, deep film, but even for the hardened fan its a struggle to overcome the eccentricities of the plot over his visual achievements.
Kaufman's ideas on the struggles of life have been much better handled than here, but for those with the brain capacity to endure this trip, there are the usual rewards his films deliver.
